Welcome to the SSMI Metabolic Enhancement Club
What is a metabolic enhancement club?
The metabolic enhancement club is a group that meets twice a week for a either a jog, run, walk, hike or bike ride… depending on fitness/training/metabolic goals. It’s truly a groundbreaking club as it is Arizona’s first HR based exercise club. Everybody in the club has done a VO2Max / Anaerobic Threshold test and been set up with a HR based training program, so this club will serve as a great way to help facilitate training goals. Each week, we provide members with HR based workouts, which are based on HR zones which we have determined here in the fitness lab.
Dr Carfagno or Luke will give short presentations each week on various Fitness, health, nutrition and performance topics, then each member will head out from our starting point and do either a 60 min low to moderate intensity workout or a 20-30 minute High Intensity Interval workout.
When are the workouts?
Workouts this summer are at 6 a.m. every saturday morning. In September, the start time will be pushed back to 7 a.m. and we will start our Wednesday evening workouts.
Where do we meet?
Typically we’ll meet here at the SSMI office for a run/jog/walk down the green belt, but occasionally we meet for a hike up Camelback or another local mountain.
What do we bring?
Because this is an exclusively HR based exercise group, we bring HR monitors. Also, fluids. Remember to bring lots of fluid to stay hydrated. The focus of many of Dr. Carfagno’s lectures will be hydration and fluid replacement before, during and after exercise.
Be sure to check the website each week for meeting location and lecture topic.
